Sir Tristram Ricketts, Bt
Tristram Ricketts, Chief Executive of the Levy Board, who had been suffering from pancreatic cancer over the last few months, sadly passed away early this morning.
There is no doubt that everyone who came into contact with Tristram will be aware of the significant contribution he made to the Racing Industry over so many years. His many talents, wisdom, sense of humour and care will be greatly missed and he will leave a huge gap in many people's lives.
Chairman of the Levy Board, Robert Hughes, said: "Many of us within the Racing and Betting Industries will feel that Tristram's death robs us of not just a great professional colleague, but a real and dear friend. That is a true testament of his stature. I was privileged to see Tristram only last week and although he was obviously very ill, he was, to use his own words, "quite chipper", and maintained a lively interest in everything that was going on at the Levy Board. He bore his illness with great fortitude, so ably supported by Annie and the rest of his immediate family. Our thoughts are of course with them at this time."
