Freedom of Information and Data Protection

The Freedom of Information (FoI) Act 2000 gives the public a general right of access to information recorded by HBLB that is not routinely available elsewhere and where disclosure is consistent with the public interest, subject to a range of exemptions.

In accordance with the FoI Act, HBLB operates a Publication Scheme.  This Scheme is a commitment routinely to make certain information available to the public and a guide to how that information can be obtained.  Our Publication Scheme defines seven Classes under which the HBLB publishes information or intends to publish information.   Further detail can be obtained by clicking on the links below:

  1. Information about HBLB
  2. Finance, Income, Expenditure and Accounts
  3. The Levy
  4. Levy Expenditure
  5. Press Releases
  6. Racecourse Attendance Data
  7. Employment Opportunites

In addition to the information published via the Publication Scheme, the public also has a right to request other information held by HBLB.

The Freedom of Information Act recognises that there are grounds for withholding information and provides a number of exemptions from the release of information that may be exercised in certain circumstances.

Should you wish to obtain information through your general right of access you are asked to make your request to:

Please provide your name, a correspondence address and a clear description of the information you require.  If you have special needs regarding the presentation of the information, please make this known with your request.  Information published by HBLB under its Publication Scheme and answers to other requests for information are subject to a discretionary fee.  You will be notified of the fee before the information is sent to you and, if you still require the request to be processed, you will be asked to pay before the information is sent to you.

Our fee policy may change from time to time.
